From the very beginning we are presented with a film premise that's really stretching it. A 39 year-old unemployed man (Kevin Hart) decides to pursue a GED to find a better job. Not saying it doesn't happen in real life, but it makes no sense here. I tried to view it objectively, even while listening to Hart's grating voice. It just doesn't add up. Sure, there are some laughs, but most of it is just plain silliness. It felt like one long sight gag that never resolved itself. If it wasn't for the addition of Tiffany Haddish as the GED teacher, Night School would have had little value on the big screen.
