Final Destination 2 opened with a spectacular road crash involving tree logs heading to the saw mill, this one opens on a roller coaster. If one enjoys the exciting new fast twisting coasters this opening will not effect you as much as it will scare the hell out of people like me who will not ride on roller coasters. Very much like part 2 the destruction of a series of young folks riding on the ill-fated ride begins quickly and we get to watch from a series of angles which are shocking and at times innovative.

Following the disaster we learn that one of the kids has pictures of the accident and in the shots of those who survived are clues as to how the Grim Reaper will claim his prey even when they survive an accident which should have killed them.

The slaughter begins quickly as we get to see two bimbo blondes fried in tanning machines. While one of the guys is a pain he does ask why is it fair for two eighteen year olds to die? The answer is it's not fair it's chance. The hint of 9/11 adds somewhat to the plot, but overall the script is paper thin. We know what is going to happen and no attempt to treat the audience with false fears is attempted. One looses his head and one is sliced from behind and it all comes to an end in the hands of a dirty rat, but by then who cares.
