Charles Dicken's A Christmas Carol has been re-worked in this imaginative Walt Disney computer animated 3D film.

Jim Carrey stars as not only grumpy Ebenezer Scrooge, but also Christmas Past, Present and Future. Director Robert Zemeckis uses motion-capture technology that encorporates Carrey's expressive face and rubbery body to bring live to the characters.

The story is well known - Scrooge, a cruel miser, experiences three ghostly visitors to his bed chamber. They teach him the true meaning of Christmas.

Scrooge is drawn with a long sharp nost that reaches almost to his pointed chin. He has a tuft of unruly white hair, small, beady eyes and an alaminly thin body. Even so, Carrey fills him with terrific energy. Whether he's running from a vlack carriage drawn by red eyed black horses, or trying to keep from falling into an open grave - he's fun to watch.

Colin Firth plays Scrooge's nephew and Gary Oldman is his put-upon clerk.

The animation is vibrant and, at times, exquisite. Old London comes alive with action that is both exciting and quite often too frightening for smaller children.
